Well, I don't really understand what you're talking about when you say "don't know the history of their religion". What do you mean?

Anyway, I never said I was from Colorado....

Of course I know, and I haven't met one member of our church that doesn't know how it got started. Or even heard of one... That's one of the main things about our church that is contraversial.

Alright then. Joseph Smith, a 14 year old boy was in a time where there was a lot of religious turmoil. He didn't know what church to join. He was reading in James, in the Bible, when he came on the scripture: James 1: 5.
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
After pondering on it, he went into a grove where he then prayed, to know which church to join. When he prayed, he received a vision of God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. They told him none of the churches were true, and many other things. When he was 17 he received a vision that told him where to find the gold plates, and later he translated them by the power of God.

He translate them using these weird glasses that "he suspected" would let people read the tablets... (he found the glasses with the tablets in some cave...)
He them put up a curtain in his house, so that no-one else could even see the tablets, or the glasses. And then he "translated" them in his little curtained-in room. After that, he decided he needed some followers. Problem with that is that he allowed no-one to see the tablets, and he hid them away in another cave. No-one can prove what he said, while the Bible can be proved, because anyone has the right to read it.

You're right about how he put up a curtain and stuff so people couldn't see it, but he found the plates in a hill. Along with the plates there were other things including the urum and themum, by which he translated the Book of Mormon. He did let other people see the plates, but only when God gave permission. Have you ever even looked at a Book of Mormon? At the beginning there is the testimony of the Three Witnessess. Oliver Cowdery, Martin Harris, and David Whitmer, who were shown the plates by visions. There is also the testimony of eight more witnessess who actually were shown the plates by Joseph Smith and got to touch and handle them. I can post those testimonies on here if you'd like.
I don't get where you're getting these ideas....

As a matter of fact, yes, I have looked at your book.

------

Answer this:
"Why does the Book of Mormon say that Lehi found horses when he arrived in America? The horse did not exist in the Americas until the Spaniards brought them over in the sixteenth century."

ALSO:

"Why does the Book of Mormon mention silk, when silk did not exist in the Americas at that time?"

------

Joseph Smith claimed that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth. If that’s true, why has it been subjected to thousands of corrections and alterations since it was first published?

------

The major heresy of Mormonism is summed up in its central theological axiom, the doctrine of The Law of Eternal Progression. It is stated as follows: As Man is, God once was, and as God is, man may become."

Basically, it says that the god of Mormonism was once a man who was born to human parents on another planet, grew to manhood, lived out his life being obedient to the laws and ordinances of the gospel presented by the god of that world. Upon his death and resurrection, he was judged (by his god) as being worthy for godhood.
If this is true, then where did your FIRST god come from? Or did the humans come before the gods?

I'll stop here, and let you answer just these for now....

1st Question: How do they know that there weren't horses?
2nd Question: They would have brought silk over from Jeruselam.
3rd Question: I have no idea what you're talking about. The book was translated and then published and has not been changed except it has been through revelation, but I don't see what you're talking about.
4th Question: We as humans can not comprehend eternity, and all the mysteries of God have not been revealed to us.
btw I'd like to see your source of that info. Thx. Smile

I can't answer all your questions that you have. I'm only a teenager, but you can find answers in other places if I don't know it. And I can point you in that direction.

My sources... that would be our Youth Minister, I remember everything that I am told.
and about the third question, I said "subjected" meaning that a lot of people have said that it NEEDS to be changed, but has not yet. (and yes, that was THOUSANDS of corrections, and alterations)

About the first question, YOU should "know" that they were horses because you believe in the book of Morminism, and that's what it says, that they WERE horses.
